MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB SHIRTS
"...BLUE MOON.. YOU SAW ME STANDING ALONE..."
It is hard to believe it has nearly been twenty years since I started supporting Manchester City Football Club. Based out of Manchester, UK, CITY are becoming a force in the English Premier League. They are a well-supported club worldwide, and have a long standing history, dating back to 1880 when they were known as, "St. Mark's (West Gorton)." Do not confuse MANCHESTER CITY FC with that other team in nearby Trafford, Greater Manchester (that wear red). They are our arch rivals! I have been collecting CITY shirts since 1992.
Home Shirt used from 1987 to 1989
The classic sky blue home shirt, with a diamond pattern, and featuring brother as the sponsor.
Home Shirt used from 1989 to 1991
The classic sky blue home shirt, with a triangular pattern, and featuring brother as the sponsor.
Home Shirt Used from 1991 to 1993
A slight modification to the previous season's shirt. Two stripes were added to the left sleeve.
Home Shirt Used from 1993 to 1995
My very first CITY shirt! Bought from a store in Halifax, W. Yorks., this shirt features the CITY crest on a white background.
Home Shirt Used from 1995 to 1997
A lighter sponsor font, complete with an outline + a bigger crest and patch complete the final chapter of the sky blue era of the 90s for Manchester City.
Home Shirt Used from 1997 to 1999
City wind up the brother era and switch to a lazer-blue home shirt. The shirt manufacturer changes to Kappa. A new club crest, and white sponsor complete this stunning home kit!
Home Shirt Used from 1999 to 2001
Brand new season, brand new sponsor. CITY sign a two-year deal with video game developer, E I D O S. The crest moves from the top right to the center of the shirt. I bought this shirt at a JJB sports in downtown Leeds.
Home Shirt Used from 2001 to 2002
The short-lived Eidos era comes to an end, with a return to the darker blue.
